STMicroelectronics STDRIVE121/141/181 Half-Bridge Gate Drivers

STMicroelectronics STDRIVE121/141/181 Half-Bridge Gate Drivers are dual (STDRIVE121), quad (STDRIVE141), or octal (STDRIVE181) half-bridge gate drivers dedicated to control four (STDRIVE121), eight (STDRIVE141), or sixteen (STDRIVE181) N-Channel MOSFETs. An SPI frame configures and controls half-bridges during active mode. SPI status registers provide high-level diagnostic information, including supply-voltage monitoring, charge-pump voltage monitoring, temperature warnings, and overtemperature shutdown.

Each gate driver independently monitors its external MOSFET drain-source voltage for fault conditions. A more efficient gate-current control for the external MOSFETs, called “three-stage gate current,” reduces switching losses and optimizes electromagnetic interference (EMI).

The devices integrate a full range of protection features, including drain-source monitoring for short-circuit detection, overtemperature warning and shutdown, a timeout watchdog for MCU control, and detailed off-state diagnostics via SPI. The VFQFN32L package with an exposed pad houses both the STMicroelectronics STDRIVE141 and STDRIVE121 half-bridge gate drivers, while a larger VFQFN48L package contains the STDRIVE181.
