Skyworks Solutions Inc. Si82Fx Isolated Gate Drivers
Skyworks Solutions Inc. Si82Fx Isolated Gate Drivers integrate two isolated gate drivers into a single package for high-power applications. The Si82Fx includes single or dual control inputs with independent or high-side/low-side outputs. The gate drivers can perform with a 3V to 20V input supply and a maximum gate driver supply voltage of 30V. The inputs are CMOS, which delivers a robust noise margin.
The Skyworks Si82Fx is excellent for driving power silicon MOSFETs, IGBTs, SiC FETs, and GaN FETs in various switched power and motor control applications. The devices employ Skyworks' proprietary silicon isolation technology, supporting up to 6kVRMS for 1-minute isolation voltage. This technology allows high CMTI (200kV/μs), lower propagation delays and skew, slight variation with temperature and age, and tight part-to-part matching. The Si82Fx provides longer service life and higher reliability than optocoupled gate drivers.
The output stage offers Selectable Variable Current Drive (SelVCD™) technology that adjusts output current between eight selectable levels, eliminating the requirement for gate resistors and clamping any Miller effect currents. SelVCD operates as a current source that maintains current output within a tight tolerance of the target across all operating conditions. The drivers additionally feature Undervoltage Lockout (UVLO), dead time programmability, and defined output states in all operating conditions.
The Si82Fx is available in an automotive grade. The gate drivers are built using automotive-specific flows at all manufacturing steps to confirm the robustness and low defectivity needed for automotive applications.
